We are asking local people to share their views on urgent care services in Sunderland to help us identify how they can be improved and how things might be done differently in the future.

Urgent Care Centres

The below Urgent Care Centres are open Monday to Friday 10am to 10pm and  from 8am to 10pm, Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.

  • Washington Primary Care Centre, Parkway, Washington, NE38 7QZ
  • Bunny Hill Primary Care Centre, Downhill, Sunderland, SR5 4BW
  • Houghton Primary Care Centre, Houghton-le-Spring, DH4 5HB
  • Pallion Health Centre, Hylton Road, Sunderland, SR4 7XF

You can walk in to Urgent Care Centres. NHS 111 can also help if you’re unsure of the best place to go for treatment.

Improving access to urgent health care and making sure patients get the right treatment, in the right time and at the right place for their specific health condition is one of our main priorities.

Since 1 September 2014, we improved the way Sunderland urgent care services are delivered. We created GP-led Urgent Care Centres, which can see see everyone from birth upwards, including a new Urgent Care Centre in Houghton, alongside the existing services in Bunny Hill and Washington.

If you have an urgent care need, please contact the free NHS 111 service first and you will be directed to the most appropriate service for your health condition. If needed, NHS 111 will make an appointment for you at one of the Urgent Care Centres just as you would do to see your own GP.
