The Sunderland Whole System AEC Work Programme is supported by the national AEC improvement team, who are providing resource and expertise to progress our local work programme in Sunderland. Dr Vincent Connolly (AEC Network Clinical Director) and Carolyn Robertson (AEC Network Associate & site lead) are the key links to the Sunderland programme from the national team.
Recently, in July 2016, the national team undertook a ‘whole systems’ visit within Sunderland to provide a review of our ambulatory services and infrastructure as well as providing some recommendations as to how the whole system can continue to improve.
They have identified us to be “developing exciting initiatives in Sunderland” and “commend our whole system approach towards maximising the opportunity that AEC presents to improve urgent care services for patients”. The recommendations from the national visit/report are currently being reviewed and planned to be included within the AEC whole system work programme for the next 12 months.
