Sunderland CCG commission a range of partners to deliver Mental health services to the residents of Sunderland, Northumbria Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust is the main health care provider, who work closely with a range of partners who contribute to the Mental Health Pathway.
Sunderland and South Tyneside Children and Young People’s Service:
The Children and Young People’s Service (CYPS) provides Specialist Tier 3 mental health assessment and intervention. It also provides Tier 2 targeted services to those in special circumstances (see below) in line with its CCG commissioning arrangements
The service consists of a multi-disciplinary team of mental health practitioners including psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, psychological therapists and psychologists, occupational therapists and administrative staff.
The service can provide consultation, advice and support directly to families but also to other agencies working with children and young people presenting with mental health difficulties and will support the team around the child in relation to EHC plans where appropriate.
Sunderland Counselling Services,
Sunderland Counselling Service exists to relieve suffering and distress through the provision of counselling and psychological therapy services, part of the aims of the service are to provider among other outcomes: •Promote and improve mental health and emotional wellbeing for adults. • Provide services which assist in relieving suffering from emotional and / or mental distress. • Promote and improve positive mental health and emotional wellbeing for children and young people.
Sunderland Mind is an independent charity run by local people for local people. They provide confidential, high-quality services for individuals, carers and families experiencing emotional or mental health problems and aim to do this in a safe, caring, non-judgmental and supportive environment.
Established in 1981, Washington Mind I a local charity providing mental health and wellbeing support, services and training for the local community. They offer an independent, non-stigmatising services based in the local community that are accessible to all and take referrals from professionals as well as individuals and family / carer referrals.
Age UK for the Essence Service
Age UK Sunderland works in partnership with Sunderland Carers’ Centre, The Alzheimer’s Society and many other partners across the city of Sunderland, to provide this free service. The service offers a wide range of practical support by giving information in areas around health, well being and legal issues while ensuring people are aware of how to access services that are of benefit to them.
People with an early dementia diagnosis also receive emotional and peer support to help understand and deal with their dementia diagnosis in a positive way.
Sunderland Carers Centre
Sunderland Carers Centre offers confidential information, advice and support service to carers throughout the City of Sunderland, they offer services that are confidential, non-judgemental and impartial and are the “centre point” of support for all unpaid carers in Sunderland.
Sunderland Carers Centre is an independent voluntary organisation, registered as a charity, and is a Network Partner of Carers Trust.
