We have recently sent out an update on progress and next steps with delivering the urgent care changes consulted upon over the last year.
I would like to clarify and reassure people in the Houghton and Washington areas that, as agreed after the consultation, while the urgent care services in both places will no longer be provided as they previously were from the centres in your areas, there will an increase in the number of appointments available through the Sunderland Extended Access scheme in these areas meaning that you can continue to access urgent care closer to home including minor injuries.
If you need to access urgent care in your area, the best way will be to contact your GP practice, local pharmacy, or to call NHS 111 when these are closed.
As highlighted throughout the last year, neither Houghton Primary Care Centre nor Washington Primary Care Centre are closing and none of the other NHS services that are currently provided from them will be affected by these changes.
Further details of how you can access urgent care services in your area is available below.
